About the Australian Museum
The Australian Museum (AM) operates within the NSW Department of Justice and was founded in 1827 and is the first museum in Australia. The AM provides access, engagement and scientific research to increase our understanding of natural history and culture, particularly of the Australasian region. The AM holds more than 18 million objects of biological, geological and cultural collections and develops programs, exhibitions and school and community education initiatives onsite, online and offsite. The AM’s purpose is to make nature, Indigenous cultures & science accessible and relevant to everyone.
About the role
Manage the entomology collection of the AM in line with the Museum’s Strategic Plan and Science Strategy. The Entomology Collection Manager will work to increase the impact of science at the AM by managing, developing and strategically planning for collection-based infrastructure at the AM and engage diverse audiences in the broader fields of science as part of AMRI.
Essential Requirements
As the successful candidate, you will demonstrate
- Tertiary qualifications in Zoological sciences, specialising in either Arachnology or Entomology.
- Experience in curation and management of invertebrate collections including databasing.
- Well-developed knowledge and understanding of the application of Work Health and Safety (WH&S) legislation and regulations.
- Adequate knowledge and experience in order to deliver the Key Accountabilities and perform to the Focus Capabilities outlined in the Role Description.
