Position Description

The Events and Ceremonies Coordinator position is established within the Commemoration and Visitor Engagement Section of the Australian War Memorial. The Events and Ceremonies team coordinate and deliver dignified major ceremonies including the Dawn Service and National Ceremony on Anzac Day and the National Ceremony on Remembrance Day. Additionally, the team coordinate a range of minor commemorative ceremonies, events and launches which add to the visitor experience and a full calendar of visits by dignitaries to the Memorial.

Under limited direction, working individually or as part of a small team, the Events and Ceremonies Coordinator will provide specialist event planning and delivery of high quality ceremonial and event projects within the Events and Ceremonies business plan. You will be required to manage effective and productive working relationships with AWM staff, stakeholders, contractors and third party agencies. As directed, you will be required to assist in leading and mentoring less experienced staff and/or overseeing work tasks and activities.

To be successful in this role you must be a highly experienced event specialist, excellent communicator and a good team player. You will possess well-developed written communication, high level event and project management and negotiation skills. The role is required to work with minimal supervision and be able to balance multiple tasks and competing priorities and work within supplied budgets.

Notes: This position may be required to obtain and maintain a Designated Security Assessment.

This position will be required to work outside core business hours, weekends and public holidays.

An order of merit may be established to fill similar positions within the next 12 months.
