Founded in 1827, the Museum is at an exciting time in its evolution under the leadership of new Director Kim McKay, with transformational development works underway due for completion mid-2015 and significant plans for future expansion.
We’re looking for a motivated and customer service driven Events & Venues Officer to promote the Australian Museum venues, and to be part of the dynamic and dedicated Development, Communications & Marketing Team.
About the role
Reporting to the Manager, Australian Museum Eureka Prizes, the Events & Venues Officer develops new business and promotes the Australian Museum venues. The role manages external and internal events held in the Museum including coordinating catering, AV and suppliers and ensures a consistent high standard. The role provides outstanding customer service and efficient administration to venue hirers. The role also negotiates contracts and supervises film and commercial shoots held onsite at the Museum.
About the Australian Museum
The Australian Museum is a State Government agency, which operates within the NSW Department of Trade and Investment. The Museum provides access, engagement and scientific research to increase our understanding of natural history and culture, particularly of the Australasian region. The Museum holds 18.5 million objects of biological, geological and cultural collections and develops programs, exhibitions and activities onsite, online and offsite.
Essential Requirements
As the successful candidate, you will demonstrate
- Tertiary qualifications in event management/related field or equivalent experience
- Experience in event management, including successfully coordinating multiple events within set parameters and budgets
- Proven success in meeting sales targets
- Experience in delivering a high standard of customer service
- Experience in financial processing, issuing agreements and general administration
- Experience using a CRM system or database to manage bookings, customer relationships and communications
- Experience in directing and managing contractors and suppliers
