Role Purpose/Context:
The Executive Officer is accountable to the Director, South Australian Museum (SAM) for a range of high level executive and business functions for the SAM. The incumbent will manage both the daily operations of the Directorate and Board, while working across the Museum to achieve long term directives as determined by the Museum’s Strategic Plans, Board and SA Museum Act.
Key Selection Criteria:
- Responsible for providing the SAM Board (SAMB) and SAM Foundation (SAMF) with expert governance advice and a high level executive leadership through daily operations and strategic planning.
- Effectively undertake the role of Public Officer/Executive Officer of the SAMF by providing high level advice and support to assist the Foundation in managing high level sensitive matters in accordance with its Rules of Association and relevant legislation.
- Support and coordinate the activities of the SAMB, SAMF and sub committees by providing expert advice, research and development of briefing papers.
- Foster effective working relationships between relevant groups by promoting an environment of open and effective liaison between the SAMB, SAMF members, stakeholders and Museum executive.
- Responsible for monitoring, identifying improvements and managing the institution’s complex policy and business practices in accordance with audit findings, the SA Museum Act and Museum Strategic Plan.
- Contribute to the institution’s strategic direction by developing strategies to achieve SAMB objectives through the implementation of business practices, policies and procedures.
- Provide leadership to a small team of administrative officers supporting the Directorate’s day to day business needs.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of strategies to manage financial requirements for the Museum and the SAMF by undertaking analysis, investigation and interrogation of financial reports.
Special Conditions:
This is a contract/term vacancy up to 12 months. Some out of hours’ business work, intra and Interstate travel may also be required”. Engagement in this role may be subject to a satisfactory Department for Communities and Social Inclusion background screening check.
