Sovereign Hill is in an exciting phase of rapid transformational change as it delivers its bold new Master Plan. This is a newly created role to assist in visitor experience design planning.
This role will drive innovative thinking and collaboration to achieve an interpretive design outcome of national significance for a major new entry experience for Sovereign Hill. This experience will welcome, orient and connect over 500,000 visitors a year to fundamental stories of Australia’s history. The outcomes of this project will include an interpretive framework that addresses the entire arrival precinct and detailed designs for temporary/permanent exhibitions and an orientation gallery and visitor entry/exit points.
The role will be responsible for leading a Project Working Group of internal collections/curatorial and visitor experience staff along with experienced external consultants, to deliver designs for the spaces within the new entry precinct at Sovereign Hill.
This role will manage the project, including project coordination, governance and administration, management of project working group(s) and act as the single point of contact for several external consultants.
Key Selection Criteria
- Demonstrated experience in project management and delivery (implementation of Project Plans, including managing resources and budgets).
- Well-developed skills to facilitate collaborative decision making with the use of evidence based data.
- Demonstrated leadership of multi-disciplinary project teams.
- Current Drivers License
Highly desirable
Established experience in a design environment, preferably controlling design projects, and demonstrated industry experience (Education, Design, Tourism, Cultural Sector) with the assistance of specialist consultants such as market researchers, exhibition designers, quantity surveyors, architects etc.
