A unique institution at the heart of Melbourne’s iconic meeting place, Federation Square, the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) is Australia’s national museum of film, TV, videogames, digital culture and art. Welcoming over 1.45m visitors in 2015/16, ACMI is the most visited museum of the moving image in the world.

ACMI is planning a multi-layered redevelopment that will transform the institution into a leading global museum of the 21st century. Earmarked for completion in 2019, it will create more public space and moving image programming including an entirely new free permanent exhibition (that replaces and expands upon the current Screen Worlds exhibition) and technology-enhanced whole-of-museum experience placing ACMI at the forefront of innovative museums worldwide.

In the 2017-18 Victorian Government Budget, ACMI received $5million for the first stage of its redevelopment.

We are seeking an experienced curatorial professional to join us as the Exhibitions Lead, shaping the curatorial vision of this redevelopment stage. Reporting to the Director, Exhibitions & Collections, and working in collaboration with the Renewal leadership team, you will head up a talented team of a curator, assistant curator, writers and subject matter experts to ensure we deliver the curatorial vision of the redevelopment.

You will bring a wealth of experience in the development of highly interactive, audience focused exhibitions and a proven record of achievement within a cultural organisation on projects incorporating multi-skilled teams and including financial, operational and staffing resources management. You will be collaborative, energetic, resourceful and imaginative.
