About the Australian Museum
The Australian Museum (AM) operates within the NSW Department of Planning and Environment and was founded in 1827 as the first museum in Australia. About the Exhibition Project Officer role
Support the Exhibition Production Team in the fabrication, production, installation and maintenance of exhibitions, including digital hardware and software components in compliance with legal, building and safety codes, following best practice standards and in consideration of the visitor experience.
There are 4 Exhibition Coordinator roles in total. 1 role with AV focus includes weekend work and 1 role with a touring exhibition focus that may require occasional travel and off-site work. Applicants may be selected for casual pool and provided casual employment on a project needs basis. Casual pool only applicants are encouraged to apply and should state their request within the application cover letter.
About the roles
There are 4 Exhibition Coordinator roles in total:
- Roles x2 (Exhibitions)
Exhibition fabrication which may include; carpentry/cabinet making, metal fabrication, mount making, lighting and program scripting, AV installation in addition to installation/de-installation - Role x1 (Exhibitions – with touring)
Exhibition fabrication and installation/de-installation which may include; carpentry/cabinet making, metal fabrication, mount making, and AV installation. With a slant towards touring exhibitions, this role will require occasional travel and off-site work requiring flexibility - Role x1 (Exhibitions maintenance)
Lighting and program scripting, AV installation in addition to installation/de-installation and maintaining exhibitions through intensive maintenance programs. Regular weekend work is required.
Essential Requirements
As the successful candidate, you will demonstrate:
- Applied and current knowledge and skills to deliver the Key Accountabilities and Focus Capabilities outlined in this Role Description.
- Demonstrated experience of working with natural science and/or cultural collections, preferably in a museum or gallery.
- Experience in delivering projects to a high standard, compliant with WH&S requirements to time and budget.
- Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle under a “C” Class Licence.
