Exhibitions Audio Visual Technician

The Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) celebrates the screen in its myriad forms. ACMI is a major, publicly funded museum situated in the heart of Melbourne in Federation Square hosting exhibition spaces, galleries, two state of the art cinemas, a Mediatheque and archive plus a shop and cafe. Supported by funding through the Victorian Government, in only a decade it has become the world’s most visited moving image or film cultural centre, attracting over 1.3 million visitors in 2014.

We have an exciting newly created opportunity in our Exhibitions team to utilise your technical know-how coupled with your exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills to support the successful development, project management and delivery of ACMI’s in-house and touring exhibitions programs. Travelling nationally and internationally to assist partner venues set up ACMI’s touring exhibitions is a key part of this role.

This broad Exhibitions AV Technician role will give you the opportunity to play an active role in the technical planning and installation and de-installation of audio visual displays, installations and exhibits for ACMI’s permanent, temporary and touring exhibitions.

To be successful in this role, you will have prior experience in the planning and delivery and hands-on operation of technical aspects of exhibitions in a digital and media based context.  The ability to draw, read, and understand detailed electronic and audio visual plans and diagrams is also required.  A practical understanding of OH&S practices with particular attention to the safe installation of technical, lighting and rigging equipment is critical to the success of this role.
