This position will work closely with the EL1 Manager Research & Collections Development and the APS4 Collections Assistant in three key areas: exhibition development and changeover, collection research and assessment, and the provision of research content and review for internal stakeholders.

The position will contribute to:

  • The development and delivery of high-quality exhibition modules and the management of changeovers for existing galleries.
  • The development and review of the museum collection, including assessing potential donations and purchases, researching existing collections, updating databases, and contributing to regular collections meetings.
  • The reviewing of content developed across a broad range of teams within MoAD, including Marketing & Communications, Learning, and Museum Engagement.

The key duties of the position include: 

  • Scope, develop and deliver engaging exhibition content for existing galleries, and manage the changeover schedule and contribute to the development of new exhibitions. This includes liasing with external stakeholders on loan material.
  • Work independently and across teams to develop onsite, online, and outreach products and programs that promote MoAD’s collection and exhibition content.
  • Contribute to the development of the museum collection through the assessment of donations and purchases, the completion of acquisition proposals, updating databases, and participation in regular collections meetings.
  • Undertake research, develop content, and review material for internal stakeholders (sometimes at short notice), and occasionally undertake research about the building and museum collection for external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the population of MoAD’s digital asset management system (Piction), working particularly on exhibition and collection related content.
  • Assit with the team’s administration, including work and prject planning, budgeting, and financial reporting.

Eligibility

To be eligible for employment at MoAD, you must:

  • Be an Australian citizen; and
  • Be able to obtain and/or maintain a government security clearance at the baseline level (after commencement).
