The Exhibitions Section has responsibility for the development and management of the Memorial’s galleries and exhibitions program. The program includes delivering the highest standard of project management for the purpose of implementing and maintaining the current and future permanent, temporary and special exhibitions as well as the national touring exhibition program.

The Exhibition Team Leader works directly to the EL1, Exhibitions Manager and EL2 Head, Exhibitions as requested. This role provides project management in the delivery of interpretive exhibition design projects including the Australian War Memorial Gallery Development project.

The role exercises reasonable independence and accountability in the application of practices and procedures, sets individual priorities and manages workflows, while working as part of a multi-disciplinary exhibition project team that may include external consultants and contractors such as designers and trade contractors; as well as cross-branch disciplines including but not limited to, historical, curatorial, registration, conservation, audio-visual, buildings, digital and marketing.

The Exhibition Team Leader provides technical advice and expertise in relation to complex issues of exhibition design and development, including foreshadowing problems, assessing risk, and proposing appropriate and innovative solutions. The position requires experience in the delivery of interpretative exhibition design projects within the museum or art gallery sector; a thorough understanding and appreciation of contemporary museum practices; the ability to contribute to several projects simultaneously at various phases; and high-level communication and liaison skills
