A number of State and Territory museums are collaborating to produce field guide apps for fauna in their region.  The project builds on the success of Museum Victoria’s Field Guide app for Victorian fauna.  The Federal Government has awarded $390,000 in funding under the Inspiring Australia, Unlocking Australia’s Potential project to develop the apps. Museum Victoria and partners the Australian Museum, Queensland Museum, Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory, Western Australian Museum, South Australian Museum and Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery will produce new field guide apps for both iOS (iPhone, iPod and iPad) as well as Android devices.  They will be available for free download through the iTunes store and Google Play.
