Auckland Museum is a much-loved culture and heritage organisation at the heart of Auckland’s identity, committed to developing and sharing engaging content through its galleries, exhibition, events and educational programmes. We are Auckland’s home of commemoration as well as the country’s oldest research institution and a major tourist destination.
The Museum’s Building and Building Infrastructure division has a vacancy for a permanent and full-time Facilities Assistant. This role is responsible for attending to service requirements and undertaking preventative maintenance on the building plant and services. Tasks will include painting, repairs, maintenance, escorting and assisting external contractors, the relocation of equipment and furniture, difficult cleaning, plus general building-related tasks.
To be successful in this facilities role, you will offer:
- Previous commercial maintenance, building or laboring experience is a distinct advantage, particularly with painting, plastering and/or carpentry skills
- A reasonable level of fitness and strength due to the physical requirements of the role, which will include regular amounts of manual handling and lifting
- Proven track record in the successful handling of contractors
- Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving skills
- A current First Aid certificate, or the capability to undertake training and successfully secure this certification
- A current Driver License is essential, with additional machinery licenses an advantage
- A positive, responsive and customer-oriented attitude
- You must be eligible to currently work in New Zealand to apply for this permanent position.
