Housed in one of Australia’s most prominent national heritage listed buildings, the Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House was the first museum in Australia dedicated to telling the story of the journey of our democracy. It seeks to provide a range of innovative exhibitions, tours, interpretation, education programs and public activities that will inspire and challenge visitors to explore democracy from its ancient roots to the present day and possible futures.
The Facilities, Capital Projects and Security Section is engaged in the facility management services for Old Parliament House. This includes, but not limited to, overseeing catering, building maintenance, security and cleaning activities with the view to providing a clean, safe and fully functioning environment for all staff, visitors and tenants.
The section is also responsible for preserving the heritage fabric of the building while overseeing and managing the buildings’ progressive restoration and upgrades including infrastructure, refurbishment projects and larger capital works.
As the Facilities & Catering Officer, you will provide support to the Section by assisting in the management of day-to-day activities, undertaking coordination tasks and preparation of routine correspondence and other general administrative tasks as required.
The key duties of the position include:
Under the direction of the Manager, Facilities & Security:
- Manage the MoAD Helpdesk and Facilities inbox.
- Undertake catering administration activities including, but not limited to, responding to issues raised by the catering staff, reviewing House Approvals, undertaking equipment stocktake, and reviewing monthly reports.
- Manage the Cleaning, Waste and Pest Control arrangements, including establishing and managing the associated contracts.
- Undertake security administration activities including, but not limited to, reviewing and managing access control groups, reviewing security logs and following up issues, coordinating security services and ordering consumables.
- Undertake tenancy administration activities including, but not limited to, tenancy inspections, liaising with tenants and responding to tenant’s issues.
- Process purchase orders and invoices through the finance management system (MYOB) and corporate credit card system.
- Coordinating Security and Work Health Safety (WHS) Incident reporting.
- Prepare routine correspondence and other general administrative tasks as required.
