Museums Victoria is seeking a Facilities Coordinator & Loading Area Manager to manage the operations of the Melbourne Museum loading dock and to provide support to the Assistant Facilities Manager in coordinating associated facilities works and services at the Museum’s Carlton Gardens precinct.  This position is also required to collaborate with colleagues and other stakeholders to ensure loading dock operations along with facilities and maintenance activities are communicated effectively to all parties across both venues.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

The primary accountability of this position is to ensure the smooth and safe operation of the Melbourne Museum loading dock which enables the delivery of goods, minimises risk and associated costs, and for implementing recycling and waste management practices which contribute to Museums Victoria’s environmental sustainability.  This role also requires implementation of facilities and asset management activities including new works, maintenance, providing safe, healthy and sustainable amenity for staff, visitors and the community.  Additionally, the position is required to collaborate with colleagues to enhance the visitor experience and provide support to the Venue Managers and leadership to Venue staff.

Key Selection Criteria:

  1. Demonstrated ability to manage and supervise a goods receipt and loading dock area and mailroom facility, with extensive experience in materials and manual handling processes.
  2. Demonstrated knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) used in line with all risk assessments and OH&S regulations. Experience in the management and compliance of hazardous and dangerous goods.
  3. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in environmentally sustainable practices, in particular of waste and waste water management.
  4. A proven track record in the operational and contractual management of recycling and waste management activities, integrated pest management and other operational service agreements.
  5. A wide range of experience and appropriate certification for operation and management of mobile plant and lifting equipment and fork lift trucks. Dogging and construction induction training certification (red or white card) or willingness to undergo training in these areas would be advantageous.
  6. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in delivering facilities management minor project works and contractor management experience to deliver the best value outcomes and meet OH&S obligations within the facilities management industry.
  7. A working knowledge of software packages including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer and experience in asset management software.
  8. The successful applicant is required to undergo, and for new employees meet the cost of, a National Police Records Check and be assessed as suitable (new employees are required to meet this cost).
