Museum Victoria is seeking a Facilities Manager to manage the assets, facilities and buildings at the Immigration Museum and Moreland Annexe.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

The primary accountability of this position is to effectively manage, plan, develop and implement facilities and asset management activities including new works, maintenance, security and services programmes, providing safe, healthy and sustainable amenity for staff, visitors and the community.  Additionally, the position is required to collaborate with colleagues to enhance the visitor experience and provide support to the Venue Managers and leadership to Venue staff.

Key Selection Criteria:

  1. Demonstrated understanding of the implications of the OHS Act (Vic) 2004, environmental management systems, and conservation management plans for heritage listed structures.
  2. Demonstrated understanding of the Worksafe compliance frameworks for Hazardous Materials.
  3. Demonstrated understanding of the Building Regulations (Vic) 2006 and the obligations regarding the maintenance, testing and certification requirements for Essential Safety Measures.
  4. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills; includes a demonstrated capacity to provide written reports on complex issues and present effectively to a wide range of audiences.
  5. Demonstrated problem solving and customer service skills which can be applied to the co-operative achievement of building maintenance projects and issues.
  6. Experience in the development and specification of contract documentation for facilities projects and services. Experience in the procurement and management of service and maintenance contracts.
  7. Demonstrated ability to represent the organisation’s interests when negotiating with contractors, consultants and others regarding repairs and maintenance and minor capital works.
  8. A demonstrable knowledge of project management principles and processes; including an ability to work autonomously, set priorities, organise and delegate tasks and take responsibility for own performance.
  9. Experience in the development and management of operational and project budgets and familiarity with budget tracking and reporting processes.
  10. A working knowledge of software packages including Microsoft Word, Excel and Project, and the capacity and willingness to under-go training on other packages.
  11. Experience with the use and interrogation of Building Management Systems.
  12. The successful applicant is required to undergo a National Police Records Check and be assessed as suitable (new employees are required to meet this cost).
