 ABOUT THE POSITION:

The primary responsibility and Skills of the Facilities Manager, Royal Exhibition Building will include.

  1. Assess, arrange appropriate action and oversee day-to-day repairs and maintenance of grounds, facilities and equipment at the Royal Exhibition Building, Melbourne Museum and IMAX.
  2. Regularly monitor, respond to, and record actions for submitted buildings, facilities and grounds-related Helpdesk requests.
  3. Manage and control maintenance and service contract variations, and extensions and Manage the inspection and testing programs for all prescribed Essential Safety Measures (ESM) serving the Royal Exhibition Building in order to satisfy the requirements for Annual Essential Safety Measures Report (AESMR) certification. Monitor reported ESM defects and manage rectification works as required. Capture and archive all relevant maintenance and test records for ESM and Statutory Compliance
  4. Manage the inspection, testing and maintenance of all (Non-ESM) services subject to statutory compliance.
  5. Manage the delivery of contracted planned maintenance and repair services for HVAC, Fire, Hydraulic, Electrical, Vertical Transport and other maintenance disciplines.
  6. Manage the delivery of contracted services for cleaning/hygiene, waste management and grounds maintenance.
  7. Manage the procurement of assigned facilities maintenance and service contracts for the Strategic Facilities Management Department in accordance with the department’s contracting strategy.

The successful applicant will have:

  1. A demonstrated understanding of the principles of health and safety as well as a robust knowledge of relevant legislation, compliance codes/codes of practice and related technical standards. Strong relationship and stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to resolve conflict and negotiate outcomes in order to achieve departmental objectives.
  2. Demonstrated ability to represent the organisation’s interests when procuring goods and services and negotiating with contractors, consultants and others regarding repairs and maintenance and minor capital works.
  3. Ability to produce business documents such as procurement documentation, reports and procedures.
  4. A demonstrable knowledge of project management principles and processes; including an ability to set priorities, organise and delegate tasks and take responsibility for own performance.
  5. An appreciation and understanding of the principle elements of asset management and an understanding of conservation management plans and the requirements of heritage legislation and guidelines.
  6. Experience in the use and application of facilities or building management technologies.
  7. Highly developed communication skills, including the ability to advise and liaise with all levels of staff within a complex and diverse environment
