The Australian War Memorial combines a shrine, a world-class museum, and an extensive archive. The Memorial’s purpose is to commemorate the sacrifice of those Australians who have died in war or on operational service and those who have served our nation in times of conflict. Its mission is leading remembrance and understanding of Australia’s wartime experience.

Under general direction, the Facilities Officer works as part of a small team and, as required, assists the Buildings and Services Section in a variety of tasks including administrative, facilities and project support as required.

The key duties of the position include:

Under general direction perform the following Building and Services operations including:

  • Assist the Senior Facilities Officer with the detailed development of operational procedures for implementation by the facilities team
  • Provide effective client service, including liaising with staff to determine facilities requirements and to resolve client’s needs which may include following procedures and identifying alternate solutions.
  • Liaising with contractors regarding a range of facilities matters.
  • Undertake non-complex facility related projects as required, including but not limited to entering and monitoring energy consumption, and managing the Minor New Works process.
  • On the job training of less experienced or new team members, including delivering site inductions to contractors and staff.
  • Provide administrative and facilities support for the Buildings and Services Section including, but not limited to financial monitoring, raising purchase orders, goods receipting, and other duties as required.
  • Coordinate stores including movement of furniture and performing audits of Memorial property.

Workers are to abide by and further the principles and practices of Work Health and Safety as outlined in the WHS Act, taking reasonable care for their own health and safety and ensuring that their acts or omissions do not adversely affect the health and safety of other persons. Undertake manual handling and movement of a range of items including but not limited to furniture, equipment, bollards and boxes.

Eligibility

A current motor car licence is mandatory, and a current forklift licence is desirable for this role.
