About the Australian Museum
The Australian Museum (AM) operates within the NSW Department of Planning and Environment. The AM is the first museum in Australia and was founded in 1827. The AM provides access, engagement and scientific research to increase our understanding of natural history and culture, particularly of the Australasian region. The AM holds more than 19.5 million objects of biological, geological and cultural collections and develops programs, exhibitions and school and community education initiatives onsite, online and offsite. About the role:
Lead and manage the provision of financial services as well as managing staff and their units resources to provide high quality financial advice, services and systems to the Australian Museum. This role oversees and ensures all AM financial functions; Financial accounting, Management Accounting, Finance Operations, and Business Partnering and associated outputs are provided efficiently, accurately, and in a timely basis
Essential Requirements:
- Tertiary Accounting qualifications with a CPA or CA qualification, coupled with proven management level experience working within the financial accounting and statutory reporting function of a commercial organisation.
- Demonstrated experience managing a commercial operation to profitability and managing the delivery of the annual financial statements and up to date and comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the International and Australian accounting standards, public sector accounting practices and requirements including the Public Finance and Audit Act 1983 and the Financial
- Reporting Code for General Government Agencies.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in order to deliver the Key Accountabilities and perform to the Focus Capabilities outlined in this Role Description.
