The Finance team is responsible for the financial management of Old Parliament House including: internal financial control, financial delegations, Accountable Authority Instructions (AAI’s), administrative procedures, accounts payable and receivable, asset management, external and internal budgeting, procurement and risk.

The key duties of the position include:

Under the broad supervision of the CFO, the position will:

  • Manage a small team to complete all activities of the finance function, including accounts payable / accounts receivable, month end processes, accurate monthly financial reports, financial statements, asset management (including stock-take), external and internal budget.
  • Establish and maintain internal controls that will withstand the scrutiny of internal and external audits and ensure satisfactory resolution of internal and external audit findings.
  • Ensure completion of the monthly financial information and actively manage the completion of year-end financial statements.
  • Provision of advice on accounting standards and matters of compliance as a Corporate Commonwealth Entity, including identifying and addressing any technical issues in the application of taxation and financial legislation, and accounting standards.
  • Excellent understanding of the funding process, and preparation of external budgets, including experience in liaising with Department of Finance and the ANAO.
  • Under limited direction, prepare written proposals/papers for the agency’s Executive, Audit Committee, senate estimates and other external parties.
  • Provision of advice on Commonwealth government procurement
  • Manage the risk register for the entity
  • Assist CFO to implement system change and other business improvement activities.
  • Act as the CFO during times of leave.
