Australia’s largest public museum organisation is seeking a Finance Support Officer to work in Accounts Payable with a team of finance officers to help manage the financial operations of the organisation, which is undergoing an exciting process automation change. ABOUT THE POSITION:

The primary responsibility of the Finance Support Officer will be to ensure an efficient and accurate processing of payment (and receipt) of financial accounts in line with established compliance requirements.

The successful applicant will have experience in:

  1. Using the Finance Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains system, process a range of financial transactions, including local and international creditor payments, staff travel advances and acquittals and expense claims.
  2. Prepare weekly and ad-hoc electronic and manual payments in the Finance systems to enable release of funds by Supervisors.
  3. Ensure the efficient provision of a range of financial transaction and administration services through the development and implementation of processes and that meet internal and statutory compliance requirements; provide expert advice in these areas.
  4. Provide advice to staff and managers on the application of Museum Victoria financial policies and procedures.
  5. Reconcile supplier statements, track payments and follow-up outstanding supplier Audits.
  6. Provide customer-focused finance and administration services to a range of clients including Museum Victoria staff and creditors; develop and maintain excellent relationships with these vendors.
  7. Maintain accurate and up to date records; provide information to auditors as part of the annual audit process as necessary.

The successful candidate will also have the following attributes:

  1. Demonstrated experience in processing financial transactions in line with established policies, procedures and compliance requirements.
  2. Ability to work as part of a team, as well as having the initiative to work independently in solving problems.
  3. Sound computing skills and experience with an online finance system.
  4. Ability to work methodically and accurately with both manual and computerised records.
  5. A customer focussed and organised approach to work with the ability to meet deadlines
  6. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff.
