As the Financial Accountant you provide analysis, advice and recommendations across a range of complex financial issues, both general and specialised inclusive of GST and FBT. You will also contribute to policy, procedures and systems development and implementation to address organisation wide issues in order to meet the Department’s statutory obligations; prepare statutory financial statements in accordance with prevailing accounting standards and other statutory requirements, and maintain related supporting documentation to meet audit requirements.

You will also prepare complex briefing notes, reports and other material on issues of significance relating to financial accounting and reporting and prepare statutory annual financial statements and supporting work papers for individual entities in the Department’s cluster.

Note: New employment legislation applies to the NSW public sector with effect from 24 February 2014.  All current and new Public Service non-executive employees will be employed at a classification level and assigned to a role rather than appointed to a position.  Employees may be re-assigned to other roles at the same classification over time, in line with organisational priorities and/or personal development plans.

Qualifications

Degree Qualification in Commerce or Business and studying towards CPA/CA (or equivalent) full member status.

Experience

Other – The successful applicant is required to undergo a National Police Records Check
