Financial Administration Assistant (Accounts Officer)
The Sovereign Hill Museums Association is a not-for profit community-based organisation that includes: Sovereign Hill Outdoor Museum, Sovereign Hill Hotel, AURA and Narmbool and soon to be opened Australian Centre for Rare Trades and Arts and the Australian Centre for Gold Rush Collections. It cares for a nationally and internationally significant collection of over 150,000 objects and protects the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of the Victorian gold rush.
We are an Australian tourism icon that attracts some 500,000 visitors annually. The Outdoor Museum is internationally renowned as a living museum featuring rare trades, and programs and experiences that interpret a pivotal point in Australia’s history. In all, some 350 staff work to bring our gold-rush story to life. They are supported by over 250 volunteers.
About the role:
The Financial Administration Assistant provides accurate and timely accounts and administrative functions within the Finance team in order to enable the team to provide effective and efficient financial reporting to the organisation.
Tasks will include:
- Accounts Payable – Process accounts payable transactions and reconciliations under general supervision, including data input, processing of vendor payments and resolution of vendor queries as required.
- Accounts Receivable – Process accounts receivable transactions and reconciliations under general supervision, data input, generation and distribution of invoices, receipting of payments, resolution of customer account queries and assisting in undertaking credit collection activities as required.
- Cash Handling – Following set procedures, independently deposit & dispense floats, process change runs and keep records of all transactions for accurate balancing.
To be successful in the role, applicants will need to demonstrate prior experience in a similar role, including cash handling, or be interested in forging a career in Financial Administration. Additionally:
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Demonstrated experience in learning and applying skills in the use of Financial Management Information Systems (experience with Navision beneficial)
- Strong attention to detail.
A Certificate II or III in Business, Office Administration or Accounting or attainment towards one of these qualifications will be highly regarded.
