The Museum is undertaking an exciting and ambitious programme of improvements including renewal of galleries, improved access throughout the Museum and collections development.

The Gallery Renewal Programme Manager is responsible for the planning and delivery of a complex programme of major gallery renewal projects. This is a newly created senior position, reporting to the Director of Public Experience and working closely with colleagues responsible for content, collections and building works. It is a unique opportunity to be part of a Museum driving the transformation of the public experience through new galleries.

To be successful in this role, you’ll have proven experience in gallery renewal leadership and project management. You will have worked on projects that include significant collections and heritage elements as well as multiple stakeholders and community representatives. Your focus will be time, cost and risk management, and you will be responsible for managing contractor and design contracts. You are going to be working with a range of different people across the museum and so you will be have proven communication and interpersonal skills.

Last, but not least, our cultural landscape is really important to Auckland Museum. You’ll have an understanding of the principles and practices of the Treaty of Waitangi as well as a proactive approach towards, and awareness of, our wide range of cultures and associated protocol and traditions.

This role is a 4 year fixed-term contract aligned with work programme plans.
