ABOUT THE POSITION:
The primary responsibility of the will be to manage the delivery of legal services across Museums Victoria, including for the drafting, development, negotiation, and review of highly complex and specialised contracts and provision of legal and policy advice relating to new and emerging issues.
The person will be expected to provide high level legal expertise on complex and/or contentious matters involving internal and external stakeholders.
The person will also oversee the organisation’s strategic risk management framework to ensure the business understands and actively manages its legal and risk position in a consistent manner
Notable skills and experiences:
- Significant expertise providing legal advice in relation to highly complex and time sensitive issues, both new and emerging
- Extensive demonstrated professional expertise analysing and advising on policy issues and providing and coordinating the provision of authoritative legal advice in highly complex and contentious matters.
- Specialist current knowledge of standards, theory and best-practice in risk management and compliance.
- Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to collaborate, influence and negotiate effectively at all levels.
The successful applicant will have an approved tertiary qualification in law, or other approved qualification, and admission to practise as a legal practitioner within the meaning of the Legal Profession Uniform Law (Victoria) with a minimum of 10 years post-admission experience.
