Auckland Museum is a much-loved culture and heritage organisation at the heart of Auckland’s identity, committed to outstanding management of its world-class collections and the permanent and volunteer staff who tell the Museum’s stories.
The Governance and Compliance Manager manages corporate governance processes, risk & compliance, and provides support to the governance and the executive. We are looking for a leader to bring additional focus and drive into our governance and corporate oversight agenda.
Key responsibilities:
- Support the Chair, Chief Executive and Director Enterprise & Finance in ensuring that the Museum’s governance arrangements are compliant with charity and company law and best practice;
- Oversee the framework by which the Museum monitors and reports compliance with all relevant legislative and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure the Museum has robust risk management and policy frameworks in place and that they are fully operational.
- Partner with the businesses as a trusted advisor and advocate for increasingly robust risk maturity and culture.
- Provide advice, guidance, oversight and challenge to Auckland Museum as we uplift governance, risk maturity and risk management practice.
- Design and lead the implementation, and challenge the consistent application of governance frameworks, and policies that are best practice, fit for purpose for Auckland Museum.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Excellent organisation, interpersonal skills and diplomacy
- 3-5 years of relevant governance and compliance/risk management experience preferred
- Demonstrated people leadership experience
- Excellent stakeholder management and interpersonal skills
- Commercially savvy with a strong business acumen
- Te Reo Maori competence and an understand of Maori culture and protocols
- Ability to write succinct reports, minutes and records for readers at a senior level
- A mature approach, discretion and sound judgement
