Australia’s largest public museum organisation is seeking a Head, Financial Planning and Analysis to develop and deliver strategic and expert level financial management information and analysis to key stakeholders to enable the effective management of Museums Victoria’s financial matters.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

Reporting to Chief Operating Officer, this position is accountable for providing expert level financial management information and analysis across Museums Victoria. The position will be responsible for leading a team that provides accurate and effective management accounting and reporting services including financial budgets to the Board and its relevant committees, executives and senior management to enable sound strategic financial decision making and practices.

Qualification

  1. Demonstrated expert level experience and knowledge of accounting requirements and standards as they relate to financial management, budgeting, modelling and reporting.
  2. Proven people management skills and experience in mentoring and providing leadership to staff so as to achieve individual and organisational wide values and goals.
  3. Proven understanding and experience managing internal and external stakeholders from diverse disciplines to build mutually beneficial partnerships and ensure outcomes are achieved and issues are resolved.
  4. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of financial management and business intelligence systems such as MS Dynamics GP and Management Reporter, advanced level MS Excel and Magiq, including developing and implementing new and improved reports
  5. Sound analytical skills applied to business, systems and accounting scenarios and a high level of attention to detail.
  6. Demonstrated ability and experience in providing and communicating financial information to a wide range of stakeholders in written and verbal format and in a timely and accurate manner.
  7. Proven initiative and organisational skills with a track record of working collaboratively and meeting customer expectations and organisational timelines.
  8. Integrity, maturity and strong personal and business ethics combined with sound judgement and a commitment to transparency and accountability
  9. Ability to work collaboratively and flexibly in a team environment.
  10. An approved tertiary qualification in accounting with full membership of CPA Australia, or the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia or other approved professional body.
