Tamaki Paenga Hira, Auckland War Memorial Museum has a vibrant brand that is well regarded within Auckland and well respected across NZ and internationally.

The Head of Brand & Customer Engagement will give life to the Museum brand; onsite, offsite, and online. You will lead the team who develop strategies which generate awareness of the museum’s public offer and drive visitation, while supporting the growth of the commercial portfolio.

A commercially savvy brand advocate, you will amplify the voice of the Museum in all external channels, and develop the brand’s digital positioning aligned to the key message framework. You’ll champion the delivery of the Museum’s content strategy to drive engagement with audiences, ensuring that the right channels with the right content in the right places, reach more people.   You will nimbly lead the team to deliver the Museum’s visitation and revenue targets, through promoting awareness of the public offer via creative, integrated marketing plans. The role is influential both internally and externally and you will need to be a leader with high energy, intellectual capacity and the professional ability to work strategically while enabling your team to deliver tactically at speed.

To be successful in this position, you will offer;

  • At least 10 years’ senior leadership experience with at least five years’ demonstrated experience leading a successful marketing communications function in the development and delivery of innovative, integrated consumer marketing communications strategies and campaigns
  • An extensive understanding of digital marketing & communications strategy with demonstrable experience in digital media
  • Demonstrated experience in engaging and growing new and diverse markets or customer bases
  • Demonstrable outcomes as a commercially savvy and politically astute leader with the ability to think strategically, plan, and execute resourcefully to deliver on objectives and targets
  • Experience in CRM, membership/ loyalty programmes and fundraising and acquisition and engagement strategies
  • Ability to think strategically about how to build audience engagement through content strategy and online communications
  • Capacity and skills to communicate effectively at a senior level and to influence positive outcomes for the customer
  • Evidence of leadership experience within a complex business environment dealing with multiple stakeholders (preferably with exposure to the cultural, tourism, leisure attraction or entertainment industries)
  • Tertiary qualified in Consumer facing  Marketing  or a relevant field
