A unique opportunity has arisen at Australia’s largest public museum organisation, Museums Victoria.
Museums Victoria is seeking a highly motivated and strategic Head of Development to develop and execute an ambitious and comprehensive fundraising program that results in significant philanthropic gifts and corporate sector partnerships to support the Museum’s exhibitions, programs, research and collections. This role will provide expertise and leadership in the identification and realisation of opportunities to solicit major gifts, annual donations, bequests and corporate partnerships in support of the Museum’s strategic objectives.

ABOUT THE POSITION:
This position is responsible for achieving agreed income targets through the development and implementation of a diverse range of strategic fundraising initiatives. The Head of Development will model and contribute to the development of a collaborative, accountable and values-driven culture at Museums Victoria.
Notable skills and experiences:
- Senior management experience, including a track record of achievement in the growth of Philanthropic fundraising and Corporate Partnerships, or equivalent experience. Proven alibility to identify prospects, develop compelling proposals, generate revenue and add value to partnerships.
- Significant experience in influencing and negotiation, adapting the content, style, message or tone of a presentation to suit the audience.
- Expert communication and presentation skills, with the ability to persuasively convey the organisation’s mission to diverse groups including major donors, foundation executives, Board members and others critical to Museums Victoria’s prosperity.
- Ability to drive new revenue streams, seeking and securing new opportunities that support Museums Victoria’s strategic directions.
- Extensive experience creating and developing long-term sustainable relationships with donors and stakeholders.
- Proven track record in donor identification, cultivation and solicitation including asking for and securing major gifts.
- Excellent people management skills with the ability to motivate and inspire staff, maximising effectiveness by selecting, developing and managing a high performing team.
