A catalyst for creative expression and curious minds.
We are Australia’s contemporary museum for excellence and innovation in applied arts and sciences. We are uniquely placed to demonstrate how technology, engineering, science and design impact Australia and the world.
With a unique collection, iconic venues, and the ability to engage audiences of all ages, we balance the management of our assets and collections with a public responsibility to build knowledge and engagement. We achieve our goals through four strategic ambitions: Curiosity, Creativity, Collaboration, and Sustainability. These ambitions are interdependent; and we value and foster a whole-of-organisation approach to our work.
The Museum of Applied Arts & Sciences welcomes applications from Indigenous Australians, people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds and people with a disability. The Facilities Team is part of the Corporate Resources Department which encompasses Finance, People, Learning and Culture, Facilities & Capital Projects, Procurement, Records, Volunteer Coordination, Strategic Project Coordination, Executive Administration and the coordination of the Internal and External Audit and Risk Management Functions.
The Facilities & Asset Management team is a key contributor to all accommodation strategies and planning of functional spaces across the Museum. This requires the capacity to be collaborative, nimble and responsive to support both commercial and public facing initiatives of the museum whilst balancing the risk that a repurposed heritage site presents in terms of safety and infrastructure demands. This specifically requires the need to establish a strong service delivery focus via the provision of technical and trade based advice to the Director Curatorial, Conservation and Exhibitions for all workshop activities.
The purpose of this role is to lead, manage and coordinate the Museum’s provision of building services and manage the overall facilities management program to ensure infrastructure and service delivery is maintained at the optimum level, supporting the Museum’s core functions in particularly daily operations, exhibition construction and maintenance and capital works programs.
Note: New employment legislation applies to the NSW public sector with effect from 24 February 2014.
