The Sovereign Hill Museums Association Ltd is an independent not-for profit museum organisation based in Ballarat, Victoria, just over an hour from Melbourne.
The Sovereign Hill Museums Association Ltd has operated the Outdoor Museum since 1970 and is an Australian tourism icon that attracts some 500,000 visitors annually. The Outdoor Museum is international renown as a living museum featuring rare trades, and programs and experiences that interpret a pivotal point in Australia’s history.
Our visitor experience offering includes: Sovereign Hill Outdoor Museum, Sovereign Hill Hotel, AURA and Narmbool and soon to be opened Australian Centre for Rare Trades and Arts and the Australian Centre for Gold Rush Collections which cares for a nationally and internationally significant collection of over 150,000 objects and protects the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of the Victorian gold rush. In all, some 350 staff work to bring our goldrush story to life. They are supported by over 250 volunteers.
The Head of Fundraising and Partnerships is required to develop, maintain and grow fundraising activities, sponsorship and our membership base. This role will drive the development and implementation of a new fundraising strategy across the areas of sponsorship and philanthropy. This role will lead our relationship with key corporate partners, foundations and private donors. Focus areas include workplace and regular giving, corporate sponsorship, major donor acquisition/retention/cultivation, community/third party fundraising, partnering with foundations and grants bodies, online giving, email appeals and bequests will be well regarded.
Experience & Qualifications
- Three years of fundraising experience or the equivalent in the sales and marketing area or; Demonstrable stakeholder engagement experience
- Exemplary communication abilities with engaging interpersonal style
- Strong leadership skills
- Excellent organisational abilities and attention to detail
- Quick thinker and ability to make decisions under pressure
