Purpose of this position:

This role is to develop and implement an innovative, best practice Learning and National outreach strategy for ANMM utilising digital and other leading edge technology, distribution channels and delivery methodologies.The role is responsible for conceiving, developing and delivering the museum’s strategies, policies, priorities, and operational practices in Learning Services.

This work entails high level independent decision making and judgement, and includes the provision of high level expert advice to senior management, ANMM’s Council and Government; responsibility for complex and sensitive public programs and learning initiatives; driving and championing the evolution of the museum’s learning/educational initiatives and leading ANMM’s learning teams to deliver formal and informal learning and public programs at a National level.

This role brings together knowledge of, and research on audience needs, with the museum’s collections, vessels, galleries, maritime archaeology research and the demands of the Australian Curriculum with the objective being for the occupant to create a unique and exceptional learning program for the museum’s audiences across Australia, and around the world. Learning experiences will include a mix of virtual visits, online resources and physical experiences that deliver new and stimulating content for a diverse audience, including students, teachers and families.
