Sydney Living Museums cares for 11 of the NSW most important historic houses, museums and their collections: Elizabeth Bay House, Elizabeth Farm, Hyde Park Barracks Museum, Justice & Police Museum, Meroogal, The Mint, Museum of Sydney, Rose Seidler House, Rouse Hill House & Farm, Susannah Place Museum and Vaucluse House. All are listed in the NSW State Heritage Register. The Museum of Sydney and the Hyde Park Barracks on the National Heritage list and the Hyde Park Barracks is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

About the role
Lead, manage and implement Sydney living Museums’ overarching marketing and communications strategies that meet visitation, audience development and sustainable revenue objectives for Sydney Living Museums, its properties, collections, exhibitions, programs and commercial activities to position, promote and protect the agency’s brand.

Responsibilities
Essential requirements the role holder needs:
- Tertiary qualifications in marketing and communications or business related discipline and at least 8 years’ experience in a senior marketing and communications role preferably within the cultural, leisure tourism or government sectors.
- Extensive experience successfully developing and executing branding and innovative marketing and communication strategies to achieve organisational objectives, within strict timeframes and established budgets and balancing competing priorities.
- Significant experience in driving commercial marketing initiatives to increase sales and maximise revenue with a strong understanding of how to develop and execute effective client acquisition and retention campaigns.
- Proven experience in leading graphic designers to develop and lead the visual aspects of brand strategy in order to enhance the general recognition of, and reputation of, the organisation and maintain a creative edge.
- Successful track record in the development of internal and external communication strategies that promote a positive view of an organisation, its vision, key messages, events and activities with demonstrated experience in public relations, media and issues management.
- Extensive experience in utilising digital marketing channels/social networking as key components of integrated marketing communications campaigns including proven content generation, CRM and direct marketing experience.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a range of internal and external stakeholders in the development, implementation and evaluation of integrated marketing and publicity plans.
- Strong leadership, motivational and people management competencies with extensive experience in leading a professional design, marketing and communications team providing associated services across a complex organisation.
- Experience in developing budgets, forecasting, financial reporting and, monitoring expenditure.

- Provide two specific examples from the past five years demonstrating your successful and effective experience at managing, implementing and evaluating strategic marketing and public relations programs that increase visibility, participation and engagement with different market segments.
- The Head of Marketing & Communications is accountable for developing digital marketing strategies; provide an example from the past five years where you have had accountability in this area, and that exemplifies the effectiveness of your capabilities in the digital domain.
