Te Papa is seeking an innovative and experienced leader to lead the establishment of a newly formed specialist team of public programmes staff, for a fixed term period through to mid July 2019. Our public programmes extend Te Papa’s rich collections beyond its physical walls and out in to our communities. Working closely with a talented team you will be supporting Te Papa in achieving its vision of changing hearts, minds and lives.

To be successful in this role you will need to have solid experience in leading and managing high performing teams and developing systems and processes to support organisational growth. You’ll be keen to embrace the exciting opportunity to bring together public programming and the Mahuki brand. You will bring a strategic approach to managing external contracts and supporting new initiatives, and you will have strong stakeholder and project management skills. Multitasking will be in your DNA and you’ll enjoy working in a fast paced environment.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have tertiary qualification(s) in relevant discipline(s) and/or similar experience
  • 10 + years of experience in programme management in a comparable environment
  • Demonstrated experience engaging learners of all ages
  • Ability to incubate teams to produce, validate and execute concepts for products and services that contribute to New Zealand’s social, cultural and economic development
