Te Papa is seeking a dynamic leader to motivate and support our vibrant Visitor Services team within the Commercial and Visitor Services directorate.

The Head of Visitor Services leads the operational management and delivery of high quality, customer focused front of house service programmes at Te Papa.

This is an opportunity to manage the visitor facing operation of the national museum, operating 7 days per week, 364 days per year delivering a range of services to our visitors including hosting, tours, education and unique experiences. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in customer service, people management, venue logistics and budget control in addition to holding an inherent understanding of the commitment required to achieve the high standard of quality and delivery expected by an institution of Te Papa’s reputation.

To be successful in this role you will have significant experience in public facing customer management and will have worked within the tourism, hospitality or public venue industry. You will be a confident communicator and be able to demonstrate experience in leading a large team delivering a range of customer services. Your portfolio of skills will also include strategy development and realisation combined with the ability to effectively manage change.

In leading a diverse team of over 80 people (mix of permanent, fixed term and casual staff), you can imagine that no two days are ever the same. Ability to lead both the team and the function within the organisation will be paramount.
