About this role

For more than 165 years, Australians have turned to Museums Victoria to illuminate the world around them. Museums Victoria is the largest museum organisation in Australia and plays a key role in upholding and promoting the cultural and scientific significance of Victoria and Australia.

Museums Victoria’s Development department was formed in 2013 and has grown over the past ten years to deliver a breadth of support for Museums Victoria’s exhibitions, public programs and research activities. They now seek a new Head, Philanthropy who will be responsible for strengthening Museums Victoria’s financial sustainability by developing and implementing a suite of strategic philanthropic fundraising programs across annual giving, major gifts and bequests.

The successful candidate will bring a proven track record in all aspects of philanthropic fundraising, with experience in securing revenue at the major gift level.  With an enterprising and commercial mindset, your high-level relationship management and communication skills will be matched by your ability to influence and persuade a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders effectively. A sound understanding of contemporary trends in cultural institutions and the museum sector together with a deep appreciation for the work and mission of Museums Victoria will be vital.
