We are seeking an experienced professional to lead the strategic and operational management of our onsite visitor experience, customer engagement and venue operations within the Public Engagement Division. This opportunity is a non-ongoing, full-time opportunity for 18 months, with the potential for ongoing appointment.

The Head, Visitor Experience is responsible for the effective management of a large and diverse team of staff and volunteers, focused on delivering quality museum services, through venue engagement activities (front of house staff, visitor hosts, bookings), interpretative and educational programs (including facilitated school visits), providing visitor information, conducting tours and talks in line with our strategic priorities and values.

You will have the ability to make decisions in relation to the management of the Visitor Experience Business Unit including the identification of staffing priorities and financial management. You will embed an interpretive focus, connected with the museums’ core narratives, that encourages engagement with our audiences across all aspects of the Museum’s activities.

A strategic thinker, who can effectively contribute to the broader Museum program, you will be able to evaluate and interpret audiences and oversee the development of products and services that enhance the visitor experience, enhancing engagement and learning at the Museum both on site in Canberra and online.
