‘Help plan the new museum’, The West Australian, 11 January 2015

The WA Government is looking for 40 people to help plan the new State museum.

 Community panels are being set up to gather input and feedback into the content and proposed design of the museum that will open in 2020.

$428.3 million has been committed to deliver a new world-class museum for WA

 Culture and the Arts Minister John Day said a “people-first approach” was being adopted to create a landmark museum building and unique visitor experience. 

“The community panels will meet up to four times a year and help shape the stories that represent our State, and the way future visitors will experience the museum,” Mr Day said. 

“This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the Western Australian museum’s collections and programs, and help us to create a world-class museum.” 

People can apply to join the community panels by submitting an entry of up to 100 words outlining the reason why they would like to be considered.

Nominations for the community panels close on January 30. Successful applicants will be notified next month.

 The successful contractor is due to be appointed in late 2015, with site works scheduled to start in mid-2016.
