About the role

Curators in the History Department contribute to the development, documentation, management, and interpretation of the Department’s Collection.  They carry out research and develop exhibitions and public programmes and conduct significance assessments of material culture related to Western Australian social history.  Additionally, Curators contribute to the development of museum policies and procedures and liaise with individuals, community groups and other cultural and research organisations.

The successful applicant will be expected to:

  • Develop, document, curate and manage History collections using museum database systems.
  • Research and develop public programmes related to Western Australian social history, particularly exhibitions.
  • Undertake significance assessments of material culture.
  • Facilitate appropriate access to History collections and information, and represent the WA Museum in community and professional networks.
  • Train and supervise volunteers and practicum students.
