The WA Museum’s mission is to inspire people to explore and share their identity, culture, environment and sense of place, and to experience and contribute to the diversity and creativity of our world.
Duties
As the History Curator you will be required to:
- Contribute to the development, documentation, management and interpretation of the History Departments collection.
- Carry out research and development for public programs in particularly exhibitions.
- Liaise with individuals, community groups and other cultural and research organisations
- Carry out significant assessments of material culture, and
Contribute to the development of collection policies and practices.
Conditions
This is for a full time permanent vacancy. There will also be a Pool running for a period of 18 months from the initial appointment. Applicants deemed suitable will be placed into a pool from which full-time, part-time, fixed term or permanent appointments may be made.
A current (within 6 months) National Police Clearance Certificate will be required prior to commencement of employment, as per the Department of Culture and the Arts Police Record Screening Policy.
You must have an Australian History degree or higher to be considered for this position. All overseas qualifications must have been assessed for Australian equivalency.
You must also possess a current “C” Class driver’s licence or equivalent.
Location
This position is split between historic Fremantle, close to the bustling cafe strip, tourist sights and the modern new Maritime Museum and the Museum’s Research and Collections facility at 49 Kew Street, Welshpool.
