The Sovereign Hill Museums Association is a not-for profit community-based organisation that includes: Sovereign Hill outdoor museum, the Gold Museum, Sovereign Hill Hotel, AURA and Narmbool and soon to be opened Australian Centre for Rare Trades and Arts and the Australian Centre for Gold Rush Collections. It cares for a nationally and internationally significant collection of over 150,000 objects and protects the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of the Victorian gold rush.

An Australian tourism icon that attracts some 500,000 visitors annually, the Outdoor Museum is international renown as a living museum featuring rare trades, and programs and experiences that interpret a pivotal point in Australia’s history. In all, some 350 staff and over 250 volunteers work to bring our goldrush story to life.

ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a suitably experienced individual who is passionate about creating meaningful workplace experiences and driving change in workplace culture.

This is an exciting, high energy role that would suit a HR generalist seeking change or someone looking for that next step-up career challenge.

The role works within the People and Culture department which encompasses, Employee Relations, OH&S, Volunteer Programs, Community Participation, Training and Interpretive Quality. The department is responsible for organisation design and development, organisation communication, employee and volunteer health and wellbeing, industrial relations, workcover and Return to Work.

Reporting to the Chief People Officer, the HR Advisor provides necessary support to our managers on all things people and culture. Duties include:

  • Talent attraction and selection
  • Managing the employee life cycle from on-boarding, induction, development and exit
  • Writing contemporary policies and procedures
  • Interpreting and providing advice to managers on Sovereign Hill’s Enterprise Agreement
  • Supporting managers with performance conversations
  • General administration support to the Chief People Officer which includes preparing reports, presentations and workshops
  • Supporting the People and Culture team in change management and organisational design and development initiatives
  • Succession planning
  • Business Plan project support and delivery

The successful applicant must have

  • Experience within a similar generalist Human Resources role
  • Demonstrated experience in recruitment and selection and use of applicant tracking systems
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Exceptional time management skills with the ability to prioritise
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Exceptional stakeholder relationship skills

Qualifications and checks

  • Qualifications in Human Resources is highly preferred
  • Working with Children’s Check
  • Police check
  • Fully Covid Vaccinated
  • Must be eligible to work in Australia
