The Sovereign Hill Museums Association is one of Australia’s leading independent not-for-profit museum organisations. Our purpose is to inspire an understanding of the significance of the central Victorian gold rushes in Australia’s national story.

We collect, conserve and interpret the mining, social, cultural and environmental heritage of the Ballarat region through our world-famous Sovereign Hill Outdoor Museum, the Gold Museum Ballarat, the AURA sound and light show, Sovereign Hill Hotel, and our pastoral property, Narmbool.

The People Division encompasses Human Resources, OH&S, Volunteer Programs and Community Participation, Training, and Interpretive Quality. The Division is also responsible for employee relations, employee health and wellbeing, industrial relations, WorkCover, and Return to Work.

Reporting to the Chief People Officer, the HR Advisor is responsible for providing sound HR and employee relations support to frontline managers and contributing to organisational development initiatives such as succession planning and training and development.

As a key contributor to employee health and wellbeing, the HR Advisor is also responsible for the effective management of WorkCover and Return to Work processes and supporting the Chief People Officer with general HR administration and project-related work.

To be successful you must have:

  • Demonstrated prior experience in a similar role/duties
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in employment legislation, workplace relations and working in unionised environments
  • Demonstrated experience in WorkCover and Return to Work including claim lodgment and preparing return to work plans
  • Experience in using HR Systems and contributing to policy, employment contract and template development

Qualifications in Human Resources or equivalent at the Diploma Level or higher are essential.
