Australian Museum (AM) is located on the homelands of the Gadigal people. The AM acknowledges and pays respect to the Gadigal people as the custodians of the land, sky and waterways, paying respect to Elders past and present.
The Australian Museum (AM) operating within the NSW Department of Enterprise, Investment & Trade cluster, is the first museum in Australia and was founded in 1827. The AM provides access, engagement and scientific research to increase our understanding of natural history and culture, particularly of the Australasian region. The AM holds more than 22 million objects of biological, geological and cultural collections and develops programs, exhibitions and school and community education initiatives onsite, online and offsite.

About the role
The successful candidate will contribute and support the People and Culture team to deliver the Museum’s strategic plan, as it relates to Human Resources and support the business with the provision of HR services. The role acts as the principal business partner with the AM managers.
About you
We are seeking an experienced, motivated, enthusiastic and resilient HR professional that will provide support and guidance to the AM managers on issues ranging from recruitment to people related matters to ensure a positive and productive workplace that meets AM objectives.
You will have:
- Thorough knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and guidelines in HR management systems in the public sector environment.
- Excellent communication, organisational, analytical and time management skills.
- Superior interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a collaborative and diplomatic manner and able to build strong respectful and collaborative working relationships with AM colleagues at all levels.
Essential Requirements:
- Tertiary qualifications in HR or equivalent experience in providing the full range of employee life cycle HR services e.g., recruitment, training, development etc.
- Working knowledge of conditions of employment as set out in the GSE Act 2013, GSE Regulations 2014 and GSE Rules 2014 and the various awards, determinations and agreements affecting staff.
- Adequate knowledge and experience in order to deliver the Key Accountabilities and perform to the Focus Capabilities outlined in this Role Description.
