The Sovereign Hill Museums Association is one of Australia’s leading independent not-for-profit museum organisations. Our purpose is to inspire an understanding of the significance of the central Victorian gold rushes in Australia’s national story.

We collect, conserve and interpret the mining, social, cultural, and environmental heritage of the Ballarat region through our world-famous Sovereign Hill Outdoor Museum, the Gold Museum Ballarat, the AURA sound and light show, Sovereign Hill Hotel and our pastoral property, Narmbool.

The People Division encompasses Human Resources, OH&S, Volunteer Programs, and Community Participation, Training and Interpretive Quality. The Division is also responsible for employee relations, employee health and wellbeing, industrial relations, WorkCover and Return to Work.

Reporting to the Chief People Officer, the HR Coordinator/Advisor is responsible for providing HR Generalist support to frontline managers and contributing to organisational development initiatives such as succession planning and training and development.

To be successful you must:

  • Be a change ambassador, a go-getter, with a positive and engaging approach
  • Demonstrate prior experience in a similar role/duties
  • Demonstrated discretion when dealing with confidential matters
  • Experience in using HR Systems and contributing to policy, employment contract, and template development
  • Demonstrated experience in recruitment and selection
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Proactive, positive attitude, flexible, dedicated, and hardworking
  • Highly self-motivated to provide exceptional service, continuous improvement, and high quality of work
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Exceptional time management skills with the ability to prioritise
