Position Description

Museum Victoria is seeking a Ian Potter Australian Wildlife BioBank Research Fellow to support an Early Career Researcher (within five years of PhD confirmation) to initiate and undertake wildlife conservation research investigating Victorian and/or Australian animals through utilising and growing the Ian Potter Australian Wildlife BioBank cryofacility.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

This position is accountable for producing high quality biological research, the findings of which are published in peer-reviewed international journals and disseminated through academic and public lectures, science communication initiatives, the Museum’s public programs and potentially be incorporated into its exhibitions.

Key Selection Criteria:

1. Ability to initiate, develop and deliver high quality research in the field of Australian wildlife conservation that will contribute to and extend research avenues in the Ian Potter Australian Wildlife BioBank facility, with special consideration given to research on threatened species and their recovery.
2. A track record in producing high quality research and outputs including academic publications.
3. A track record in establishing and building research networks and collaborations.
4. Ability to initiate, plan, organise, implement and deliver programs of work to tight deadlines, including field-based research projects.
5. Competency in IT and familiarity with a computerised environment.
6. Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
7. The successful applicant is required to undergo a National Police Records Check and be assessed as suitable (new employees are required to meet this cost)
