ICOM speaks up for copyright exceptions, ICOM
At the 31st session of the Standing Committee on Copyright and Related Rights of WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization), organised in Geneva, Switzerland from 7 to 11 December, 2015, Dr. Anne-Catherine Robert-Hauglustaine, Director General of ICOM, made a statement on behalf of the organisation.
She commented on the new WIPO Study on Copyright Limitations and Exceptions for Museums and endorsed the library and archive communities in the pursuit of proposed exceptions to copyright. She advocated that exceptions to copyright for museums “are an essential facilitator and enabler so as to provide museums with the capacity to communicate its scholarship in the twenty-first century”.
