Immunity from Seizure – New Zealand

The New Zealand Ministry for Culture and Heritage (MCH) has released a discussion paper on Immunity from Seizure for Cultural Objects on Loan.  The discussion paper asks whether New Zealand should introduce legislation to protect cultural objects on loan from overseas against legal claims; and, if so, what form such legislation should take.

CAMD, which has supported the introduction of protective legislation, will be preparing a response to the paper.

The paper is available on the Ministry’s website at www.mch.govt.nz/immunity-seizure. The closing date for submissions on the discussion paper is Monday 24 September 2012.
