Indonesia: Digitising Museums, Cultural Sites Engage Younger Audiences, OpenGov Asia, 28 March 2026
Indonesia is stepping up efforts to modernise its museums nationwide, with a strong focus on digitisation and storytelling to better connect with younger audiences. The initiative reflects a broader push to ensure cultural heritage remains relevant in an increasingly digital and fast-evolving era.
Minister of Culture Fadli Zon has called on museums across the country to accelerate the digitisation of their collections. This includes transforming physical artefacts into digital formats and enhancing how stories are presented to visitors, particularly younger generations who are more accustomed to interactive and technology-driven experiences.
