The Museum has an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to join the Information Technology business unit as an Information Management Officer.

The NMA Information Technology business unit is comprised of a small and dynamic team that undertakes challenging and diverse work and operates in a busy but supportive environment.

The Information Management Officer role delivers a range of services to the Museum and to its Cultural and Corporate Shared Services Centre (CCSSC) partner agencies. A key service is Information Management, including information governance, policy development, user education and administration of Electronic Document & Records Management Systems (EDRMS) solutions.

The Museum and its CCSSC clients are on a transformation journey, moving from on-premise CM9 to SharePoint Online and other cloud solutions. The Information Management Officer will be required to liaise extensively with stakeholders at all levels across the Museum and with CCSSC partners to successfully embed the change.

An advanced understanding of information management and information security principles is important for this role.

The Information Management Officer has a range of responsibilities that include but are not limited to the following:

  • Manage NMA’s information assets in line with best practice information security and compliance with information management legislation and standards
  • Plan for and implement change
  • Provide advice and develop, implement and maintain frameworks, policies and procedures to manage compliance with information management legislation, standards and Australian Government policy
  • Analyse data and information and prepare reports to the executive management team to support best practice information management
  • Maintain and enhance information management systems including business classification schemes, information retention and disposal activities, and electronic systems
  • Undertake the role of administrator for EDRMS solutions to ensure effective management of information
  • Provide support and training to NMA and CCSSC partner staff in information management policies, procedures, and systems to ensure compliance with information management legislation and standards and efficient and effective operation of electronic systems
  • Promote a strong information management and security culture across the organisation and upskill staff in information management practices and systems
  • Supervision of junior and contract staff
  • Other duties as required
