The Australian War Memorial combines a shrine, a world-class museum, and an extensive archive. The Memorial’s purpose is to commemorate the sacrifice of those Australians who have died in war. Its mission is to assist Australians to remember, interpret and understand the Australian experience of war and its enduring impact on Australian society.
The APS6 IT Business Team Leader is accountable under limited direction to perform complex IT Business Management and Administration Support Functions within the IT Section of the Australian War Memorial.
The role is a Team Leadership position and is responsible for providing subject matter knowledge and leadership across a broad range of IT Support Functions including IT Business Analysis, Project Support, Change Management, Helpdesk, Mailroom, Records Management and Administrative Support within the IT Section. They are required to take responsibility for their own work and the work outcomes of the team members, building cooperation and improving team performance.
The IT Business Team Leader is accountable to plan, monitor and manage the physical, human and financial resources allocated to them. They are required to develop appropriate controls, monitor achievement against Section, Team and Project requirements and adjust the work of team members within the Business Management Team to meet changing requirements, specifications and deliverables.
Responsibilities
- Perform and coordinate the activities for the identification, assessment and analysis of IT business processes, procedures and work practices, identifying variance, developing solutions, testing and deploying functional outcomes, ensuring acceptable quality and integrity of the IT systems.
- Coordinate the investigation, analysis and validation to determine new business requirements and the development of detailed functional specifications that deliver elements of systems design, including data management rules, business rules or other software requirements.
- Review, analyse, evaluate and identify the processes and methods required in existing IT systems and propose modifications, additional system components or new IT systems to meet user needs.
- Accountable to provide direction and advice to team members within the IT Business Management Team performing work across a diverse range of IT Business and Administration Support activities including TRIM (paper records), mail and courier services, software licences, financial, contract, assets and general administration activities.
- Monitor the performance of the Service Desk, provide direction for improvement of outcomes, ensuring integrity of ITSM tools, identifying problems, developing documentation and implementation of work-arounds and solutions and provide training.
- Understand and assist in the information management function, policy development, record keeping and customisation requirements of SharePoint, including informing the CIO on the implementation targets and pathways requirements of the Digital Continuity 2020.
- Select appropriate outcome, make decisions using expertise and knowledge, ensuring decisions are compliant with relevant legislation, best practice principles and the IT Section business processes and procedures.
- Communicate, understand and negotiate complex business, administration and technical information with stakeholders to formulate, document and produce business requirements and specifications to create system and software solutions to implement change.
