The IT Support and Help Desk Officer is a part of the IT business management team and accountable under general direction, and in accordance with Information Technology policies, procedures and standards, to perform moderately complex IT support activities. The position is required to organise and prioritise their workflow, review their work to maximise the benefits of their work, including the identification of opportunities to improve the efficiency of business processes within the IT Section, and will contribute to the development of less experienced employees.
The role also provides IT Level 1 Service Desk support and technical support of network and desktop operating systems, application delivery, and communications within the Memorial’s IT network environment. The role is responsible for maintenance of nominated systems including documentation and formulation of associated administrative and system recovery processes.
Responsibilities
- Accountable to monitor the IT Service Desk requests, identify, prioritise, assign and action the service requests by providing sound advice, recommendations and resolution.
- Apply knowledge and experience to support the maintenance of IT equipment and infrastructure across the Memorial.
- Carrying out a range of administrative duties including: IT equipment and asset management (software licences and contracts), purchasing, mail and freight services, and asset management.
- Responsible for the back-up tape management activities including rotations, scanning, offsite storage, and the recalling of a tape to recover information and restore.
- Follow established processes and assist in the deployment of the Standard Operating Environment (SOE) across the Memorial including the rebuilding of workstations and laptops.
- Create, document and support user & email accounts and Secured Network access and permissions.
- Consult and advise internal and external stakeholders, anticipate and respond to their needs and expectations.
- Resolve moderately complex service desk requests from stakeholders and provide information, advice and solutions as a representative of the IT Section.
- Creating and maintaining knowledge base articles, instructional documentation, templates and procedural documentation.
- Workers are to abide by the principles and practices of Work Health and Safety as outlined in the WHS Act, taking reasonable care for their own health and safety and ensuring that their acts or omissions do not adversely affect the health and safety of other persons.
Additional Requirements:
- Must hold a full and current Australian driver’s licence.
- The successful applicant must have the ability to obtain and maintain a NV1 Security Clearance.
- This is a full-time position with mandatory working hours of 8.30 am to 5.00 pm.
- Some after-hours / on-call support might be required with reasonable notice.
- A forklift licence is highly desirable.
